  • Day 1 - Airport/Negombo

    Arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport and be warmly greeted by a representative from Travel Dreams Of Sri lanka and transfer to your hotel in Negombo.

    PM - Proceed on a city tour of Negombo.

    Negombo is a characteristic fishing townnorth of Colombo and is a mere 13 km from the international airport. Set amidst lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea and most of all, a gourmet’s paradise with sea food in plenty!! Old world fishing craft, like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran, bring seer, skipjack, herring, mullet, pomfret and amber jack, while lobster and prawn are caught in the lagoon.

    PM – Spend the evening at leisure on the beach or by the pool
  • Day 2 - Pinnawala/Dambulla

    After breakfast proceed to Kandy visiting the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage en-route.

    Pinnawela is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat. This is the only such sanctuary in the world; you will watch the beasts gamboling in the water and being fed their quota of milk from handheld bottles..

    Thereafter proceed to Dambulla visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple en-route..

    This is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceiling found here are over 2000 years old and is the largest area of painting found in the world.

    These caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

  • Day 3 - Sigiriya/Minneriya

    After breakfast visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

    This is known as the 8th wonder of the world. This rock fortress was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more than 18 years. In a sheltered a pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are the famous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5th century water gardens to their former glory.


    PM – Visit the Minneriya National Park and experience a jeep safari.

    Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa is the 8890 hectares of Minneriya National Park which is an ideal eco tourism location in Sri Lanka. The park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to Sri Lanka's favorites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena). This tank is generally known as a place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze on the grasses as well as the huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters. Thereafter return to hotel.

  • Day 4 - Dambulla/Kandy

    After breakfast you will be given the chance to do a Elephant Ride on the back of a majestic elephant in Habarana. This is certainly the chance of lifetime!

    You would ride through the jungle on an Elephant's back – which is an exciting experience from the traditional transportation methods.Thereafter proceed to Kandy via Matale..
    You will have the opportunity to visit a Batik Factory in Matale. Batik has been an ancient art of painting cloth and today Sri Lanka is among the world leaders in the design of batik. Batik galleries and factories offer batik from simple single-colored designs to intricate multi-colored masterpieces. Visit Batik Factory and see the various phases of batik manufacture.


    You would also visit a Spice Garden in Matale. For centuries, spices have been one of Sri Lanka's celebrated exports. Spices are mostly grown in home gardens (as a home industry) and used not only to flavor food but also in medicine and cosmetics. Visit a Spice Garden and sample such scents and flavours as cinnamon, ginger, pepper, vanilla, cardamom etc.
    Continue to Kandy..

    Kandy perhaps is Sri Lanka’s most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, Kandy is Sri Lanka’s most visited place after Colombo. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed ‘DaladaMaligawa’, where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings.

    PM - Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

    It is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese kings and is a UNESCO world heritage site partly due to the temple.

  • Day 5 - Kandy Sightseeing

    After breakfast at the hotel visit The Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya where you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

    Thereafter you will have the opportunity to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and reed-ware at bargain prices!!

    PM – Proceed to watch a Cultural Dance Show.

    These classical dance forms are associated with the performance of various rituals and ceremonies which are centuries old and are based on the folk religion and folk beliefs going back to times before the advent and acceptance of Buddhism by the Sinhalese people in the third century B.C. These rituals and ceremonies reflect the values, beliefs and customs of an agricultural civilization of Sri Lanka.

  • Day 6 - Kandy/Colombo

    After breakfast proceed to Colombo..
    PM – City tour of Colombo..

    During your journey through the City of Colombo, you will visit the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) which is the very first purpose built convention center in Asia that combines the best of professional conference facilities available.

    The Independence Square, is also a must visit, which today has become a major tourist attraction due to its historical significance and extraordinary work of architecture. Your visit will see the Old Parliament of Sri Lanka and the gorgeous Galle Face Green facing the beautiful Indian Ocean.

    Also you would be given the opportunity to shop at the famous department stores and malls in Colombo where you would finds brands such as Marks and Spencer, Victoria’s Secret, GAP ect..

  • Day 7 - Colombo/Airport

    Morning Tour the Medieval Capital Polonnaruwa city. (11th century &12 century) See the ruins of once a beautiful city fortified with three concentric walls, parks, gardens, and many shrines Polonnaruwa was the Capital after the fall of Anuradhapura.

    You will remain in Polonnaruwa for the night and proceed to Anuradhapura after breakfast.
     
  • Day 6 - Anuradhapura

    Located in the north Central Province 206 km from Colombo The sacred city of Anuradhapura is a Magical Place featuring some of the most ancient archeological treasures in Sri Lanka. The vast heritage site is an impressive reminder of the ancient civilization.

    Anuradhapura the first capital of Sri Lanka was once one of the grandest monastic cities the world has ever seen. It was established in the 4th century BC, rising to prominence with the arrival of Buddhism, a pivotal event that saw the city transform in to a major centre of Buddhist pilgrimage and learning. The great Kings of Anuradhapura oversaw a golden age in the islands history, building colossal dagobas that rivaled the pyramids of Egypt in scale. Anuradhapura was an example par excellence of a hydraulic civilization.

    The construction of many reservoirs, canals, and irrigation channels during the period exhibit an amazing knowledge of trigonometry and the design of reservoirs a thorough grasp of hydraulic principles. The ornamental scale of the large reservoirs is compelling evidence of a thriving economy and state structure which had resources from an agricultural surplus and profits from trade to invest in these projects as well as on religious and public buildings designed on a lavish scale.

    Hot Springs “Among the sights of the place are the seven hot springs of Kanniyayi, on the road to Trincomalee.

Here you will see the remains of the Brazen Palace (which was once nine storeys high) and the Sri Maha Bodhi - a Bo Tree over 2,000 years old, grown from the branch of the very tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment.

    Return for dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
     
  • Day 2 - Anuradhapura/Polonnaruwa/Sigiriya

    After breakfast, visit the ruins of the RuwanweliseyaDagaba. See the 2nd Century BC shrine containing the Buddha's collarbone relic, the Abhayagiriya temple and the JetawanaramayaDagobas.

    Next, visit the KuttamPokuna or twin ponds and the Samadhi Buddha - a statue of the Buddha in a meditative pose, which is being acknowledged worldwide as a masterpiece.

    After that proceed to Polonnaruwa, the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. Visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, the LankatillekeVihare (3rd Century AD), the ThuparamaDagoba and the Gal Vihare, three splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedant and recumbent postures, all carved out of a large rock.

    Other interesting sights are the Lotus Bath, Tivanke Image House with the best-known Buddhist frescoes of Sri Lanka, and man-made 'ParakaramaSamudra' built by ParakaramaBahu the Great.

    Enjoy breakfast before proceeding to Sigiriya and climb the Rock Fortress built by King Kasyapa (473-491 AD) - the patricide God King. Having climbed the rock you will encounter the remains of the Palace and its environs. See the famous frescoes.

    Enroute to Kandy, explore the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple followed by a stop at the Spice Garden in Matale.

    In Kandy, tour the Temple of the Tooth Relic and watch a cultural dance performance.
     
  • Day 4 - Kandy/Colombo/Airport

    Following breakfast, embark on a Kandy City Tour including the Upper Lake Drive. Proceed to Colombo and enroute, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya.

    Then stop by the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela, which is a home to elephants that were found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Watch them take their daily bath at a nearby river.

    Return to Colombo or transfer to the airport for your departure.
